Trindle photographed in Edenderry Harbour 1998.
We have owned Trindle since 1994 and I feel that she is a very special old boat. I also feel that she deserves her own web site. So thank you for stepping onboard, and let me now take you on a tour of this old lady of the Shannon, Barrow, and the canals of Ireland.
Trindle is 24 feet long, the hull is clinker built, larch on oak, and it has survived the test of time. We don't know the exact year that the hull was constructed but it was in or around 1920. She is now powered by a twelve horse power Yanmar single cylinder diesel engine. This suits the character of the boat giving a nice 'put put' sound. On a good day she can manage a full seven knots, but she prefers a more sedately pace. She is equipped with four births, two single, and one double in two cabins. She also has a fridge, cooker, and a solid fuel stove for heating during the colder months.
